Meet Kaelyn Kennedy, the brains behind of the most popular equestrian clothing brands, TKEQ. When you think of TKEQ you may be picturing their stylish and functional equestrian attire, ranging from schooling tops to fashionable sweaters and breeches. As incredible as these products are I think it's time to turn our attention from the Chloe Technical Top and the Sport Breeches to the person who brings the designs we know and love to life. With TKEQ continuing to grow and rise, let's get to know the real heart of this brand, Kaelyn.
What did you do before TKEQ? Did you always plan to be working in the equestrian world?
I was planning on going to University, becoming an Accountant – news flash; that didn't happen. I truly had no idea TKEQ would become the business it is today!
What was your journey into the horse world?
My mom introduced me to the horse world. She has ridden all her life and – no pun intended – handed the reins to me! From my first Breyer to Hunter Derbies, my mother turned horses into a life-long love.

Why did you decide to start TKEQ?
I started TKEQ at seventeen. I struggled to find casual equestrian apparel with a modern look. This started as a graphic t-shirt and sweatshirt brand. TKEQ and I have grown up together; becoming more sophisticated and polished throughout our years. Looking back – TKEQ is a time capsule of my late teens and early-twenties. I’m very grateful for that!
3 in 1 question: What’s your favorite part about TKEQ? What has been the most rewarding part? What has become the most challenging part?
The most rewarding part is also the most challenging – designing collections. This process is lengthy. I start designing collections eight to ten months before products are released. Going from color-swatches to samples, studio photo shoots to campaign shoots is very rewarding. Seeing the collection come together and take shape is truly my favorite part!

You have become popular on so many different media platforms, what is your strategy for posting/marketing?
Content, content, content! It's always been a goal to post eye-catching, high-quality content throughout our various social media channels. As the algorithm shifts – we’ve also seen a growing importance of producing UGC, or User-Generated content!
Your photoshoots for each launch are so different and unique! What is the process of planning and shooting one?
As soon as the designing process begins I start to envision the campaign location! It’s always our goal to have different locations and barns to diversify each collection from the next. Every collection is unique – finding a location that reflects the story we are telling is challenging but rewarding when it all comes together.

What is one food you could eat forever?
🔥 Anything italian.
Favorite launch to date?
🔥 It’s so hard to pick a favorite! The original Ombré Launch (May 2023) was unreal. We shot the campaign at night, under grand prix warm-up ring lights in Thermal California. My vision and products came together so seamlessly!
